Portrait of Joshua Forster

I'm Josh. I live in the UK and I share my ADHD journey and the coding projects I build to solve problems for worthwhile causes.

I am proud to say I need medication every day to function properly. It is nothing to be ashamed of and I love talking to people about it. I am even prouder of the person I have become since getting it.

As a mixed-race male (White British father & Black African mother), I feel it's important to be open about mental health and Neurodivergence. I want other men to know that seeking help is not a weakness, it doesn't make you less 'manly'. Whether it is therapy, medication or community, you are not less of a man for wanting support to become who you want to be.

This does apply to everyone, not just men. I can only speak from my own personal perspective, however.

Just before turning 30, I decided enough was enough. I wanted to take control of my life, embrace my neurodivergence and turn what used to hold me back into something that helps others move forward.

I grew up (unknowingly) with ADHD, constantly feeling like I was navigating a world that wasn't built for me. I developed coping strategies that got me through two degrees, various jobs and freelancing. However, it wasn't until I got diagnosed and started treatment that I began to truly thrive.

I've struggled with the usual challenges: staying organised, absorbing instructions, hitting deadlines and juggling everything at once. These experiences are now what fuel my passion. I build tools and write articles to help people like me learn, work and live with less resistance.

I want to build a community where disabled and neurodivergent people feel seen, supported and empowered. Whether it is through sharing my story, raising awareness or creating useful software, I want to make life easier for those of us who think differently.

When I'm not coding or writing, you'll probably find me watching Arsenal, hunting through charity shops, cooking or getting stuck into a creative side project. These activities keep me grounded and help me recharge.
